Early inspirations
I grew up in country Victoria on a diet of sports and physical activity. Typically, footy and cricket were staples, while  golf, some racquet sports and others came and went spasmodically, and since my late teenage years boxing, martial arts and combat sports in general became a passion.

I had never really aimed to reach any great heights in any of my sporting endeavours, which was fortunate as I was average at best, and as I would later discover, my ability to instruct and coach far exceeded any athletic prowess I may have possessed.

Why did you become a PT?
I originally became a personal trainer so I could work the hours I wanted, to fit in with my lifestyle. I have always been fit and active, and thought that it would make sense to earn a living doing something I thoroughly enjoy.  Being a personal trainer allowed me to lecture at Swinburne, play VFL football and gave me spare time during the day throughout the week to do the things I want to do.

What is your fitness education background?
In 2003 I completed a Diploma in Sports Administration at Swinburne University. From 2006-2007 I tutored and lectured Sports Facility Management and Cert IV Fitness at Swinburne TAFE.

Why did you become a PT?
I have developed a wealth of experience with over 20 years in sports and fitness. Being active has been an integral part of my life since the early years, and after studying PE in high school, human movement and function became a hobby and a dedicated interest.

I became a trainer to further my knowledge of exercise physiology with the aim of assisting myself in my various sporting pursuits. However I’ve learnt and experienced so much more. The fitness industry has helped me grow and I greatly enjoy passing on my knowledge and experience. Knowing I can be a catalyst for positive change in people's lives is very rewarding and something I strive for everyday.

Why did you become a PT?
I always had a desire to work in a profession where I enjoyed what I did. I grew up playing sport in the country and going to the local gym while also spending time coaching sport particularly basketball, and enjoyed helping people become better and develop. The Personal Training / Health Industry offers a lot of the same qualities.

What is your fitness education background?
After completing year 12, I went to university to study Myotherapy. During my studies I found my interests becoming stronger and stronger in the field of Personal training. I then came to the point that I deferred out to study Certificate 3 and 4 in fitness. That was 7 years ago.
